Winter Park Construction (WPC) Awarded $40.7 Million Off-campus, 3-site Student Housing Project at Florida State University
ORLANDO, Florida- Winter Park Construction (WPC), one of the nation’s most respected general contractors and leading student housing construction companies has been selected by The District Joint Venture, LLC to build a 3-site student housing/mixed-use complex in Tallahassee, Florida – District East, District West and Woodward. Designed by architect M+A Architects, the podium-style, fast-track projects are scheduled for completion in mid-2014 and will be home to more than 712 students at Florida State University.
The largest of these projects, $20.4 million District East, will be a 4-story wood-framed building atop 1 level of cast-in-place parking and nearly 18,000 square feet of retail space. District East will house 220 units and 348 beds amid 235,000 square feet of residential space featuring luxury amenities including a zero entry resort-style pool, exercise room, clubhouse and public gathering place.
$11.5 million District West, is similar in construction and amenities to District East yielding 113 units and 232 beds within 140,000 square feet of residential space, as well as over 15,000 square feet of retail space and precast garage parking. The constructed frontage hardscape of both District East and West will be consistent with Tallahassee’s Gaines Street District redesign initiative.
Among 4 acres, $6.2 million Woodward will boast 54,000 square feet of residential space including 33 units and 132 beds, as well as 8,000 square feet freestanding, 2-story commercial building. Woodward will feature well-appointed hardscapes and landscapes with ample lawns for sunning, as well as a 138-space parking garage.
