Building the Future, Renewing the Past: WPC's Legacy is Rooted in Renovation

This year marks a significant milestone for WPC (founded Winter Park Construction in 1974) as we celebrate half a century of leading the construction industry in Central Florida. From our origins as a humble renovation firm to becoming the multi-unit construction leader in Florida, our journey has been defined by adaptability and resilience, underpinned by forward-thinking strategies and a commitment to thriving through innovation.  With nearly 50,000 units completed and over 200 million square feet of new construction across various markets, WPC has continuously evolved to meet and exceed the dynamic needs of our clients and communities.

At WPC, our extensive portfolio not only showcases a diverse range of new construction projects—including ground-up developments in hospitality, multifamily, senior living, and student housing—but also highlights our enduring client relationships, some of which have been strengthening for over 50 years. A core part of our value to these major global brands lies in our comprehensive service offerings that encompass the entire lifecycle of a building. From initial construction to ongoing renovations and refurbishments, our ability to continuously serve the evolving needs of each structure demonstrates our commitment to durability and functionality. By engaging with properties at various stages of their lifecycle, we ensure that our renovation services seamlessly integrate with the original architecture and purpose of the building, enhancing both its aesthetic and operational value.

Rooted in Renovation

Renovation has always been at the heart of WPC's operations. Our ability to refurbish, renew, and reimagine spaces is not just a service—it's a testament to our dedication to quality and the strong relationships we've built over the decades. Today, higher interest rates, rising insurance premiums, and elevated construction costs are compelling businesses to reconsider new construction starts. In turn, renovation has become more crucial than ever. It represents a strategic move to upgrade and optimize existing spaces, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and efficiency.

“It's exciting to witness the role of renovation becoming even more integral to the commercial construction landscape of today. The construction sector is inherently cyclical, influenced significantly by the current interest rate environment. Despite this challenge, renovations have not only been sustained but thrived, becoming a natural part of the growth cycle in the construction business. As WPC celebrates its 50th anniversary, we are energized for what lies ahead. Renovation is more than just restoring the old; it's about setting the stage for future innovations and creating enduring legacies." — Jeff Forrest, President and CEO, WPC

Our Renovation Portfolio: A Spectrum of Excellence

At WPC, our extensive renovation portfolio showcases not only our adaptability to changing market needs but also our commitment to nurturing long-term client relationships. As we celebrate our 50-year legacy, we remain deeply rooted in the craft of renovation, continuously evolving to meet the contemporary demands of the construction landscape in Central Florida and beyond. Each project we undertake is a testament to our dedication to revitalizing and enhancing spaces, ensuring they serve their communities well into the future. Here’s a closer look at some of the key areas of our renovation expertise:

Historical Renovation: Our dedication to preserving historical integrity while incorporating modern functionality is exemplified in projects like the Union Terminal Warehouse. By breathing new life into these significant structures, we preserve the rich heritage of the past while adapting them for future use, ensuring they remain vibrant parts of the community.

Our client, Columbia Ventures acquired the Historical Union Terminal Warehouse in December 2018, with plans to utilize historic tax credits and opportunity zone equity – for the restoration of the 109-year-old Union Terminal Warehouse (shown here). WPC was selected to perform the historic adaptive reuse of Union Terminal Warehouse; construction began this summer and is expected to be completed this year. Learn More.

Our projects are designed to meet the high expectations of today's travelers, providing them with unforgettable stays.

Located next to the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks, Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort is a vibrant haven that provides the perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of Orlando's famous theme parks. As part of their ongoing commitment to enhancing guest experiences, Orange Lake Country Club recently engaged WPC with a significant upgrade, a renovation to one of its beloved amenities—The Arcade. At WPC, we bring decades of expertise to each project, employing refined processes in estimating, scheduling, and value engineering. Our focus is on enhancing safety and functionality, making sure that every update not only meets current standards but also enriches the living experience for seniors.

Owned by Royal Senior Care, it features independent living, assisted living and memory care facilities. Remodeling for Energy Efficiency: With a focus on sustainability, our remodeling projects aim to transform existing spaces into models of energy efficiency. These efforts not only support our clients' environmental goals but also align with global initiatives to reduce carbon footprints, contributing to a healthier planet.

Repairs and Refurbishments: We take our commitment to excellence seriously, even when it comes to the regular maintenance of the buildings we rejuvenate. Keeping things updated and in top shape is key to making sure everything functions smoothly and lasts longer. We handle these repairs and refurbishments with the same care and precision we apply to our bigger projects, ensuring that every detail is up to our high standards.

As we celebrate 50 years of new construction and renovation service, WPC stands proud of its heritage and excited about the future. Our projects do more than just transform spaces; they enhance communities, build relationships, and set standards in the construction industry.
