Soccer's popularity has soared in recent years, becoming more than just a sport but a vital part of the community fabric, especially in places like Orlando. Recognizing this passion, WPC is proud of our long-standing relationship with XL Soccer World and XL Sports to create premier facilities that cater to this growing enthusiasm.
In 2011, WPC renovated XL Soccer World on Courtland Avenue in Orlando, Florida for $1.2 million. Transforming a former tennis club into a 50,000 sq. ft. top-tier indoor soccer facility. XL Soccer World offers state-of-the-art facilities designed to nurture the athletic and personal growth of Orlando's youth, ensuring that the spirit of the game translates into lifelong health benefits for its participants.
In 2012, a $621K WPC renovation transformed XL Soccer Maine, converting an existing building into a 64,800 sq. ft. premier indoor soccer facility. This project upgraded the space with cutting-edge turf fields, advanced training equipment, and modern amenities.
In 2019, WPC collaborated with XL SPORTS WORLD in Lake Nona on a $4.9 million project to construct a new state-of-the-art facility. The venue supports both recreational and league play, featuring two advanced 6v6 soccer fields laid with the latest generation synthetic turf used by professional teams. The facility also includes modern office spaces, a sports bar, a party room, and sleekly finished restrooms. This cutting-edge building is designed to cater to the community’s athletic and social needs, providing a premier environment for sports and recreation in Lake Nona.
In 2020, the partnership continued with the renovation of the XL Soccer Academy at their Courtland Street location in Orlando, Florida. This $755K project focused on transforming the second floor to add modern classrooms, enhancing the facility's educational capabilities. This renovation supports the academy's mission to combine athletic training with academic development, providing a comprehensive environment where students can excel both on the field and in the classroom.
In 2023, the growing demand and success of XL Soccer's ventures led to another exciting phase: expanding the academy at Lake Nona. This $1.4 million project added a mezzanine level to the existing building, accommodating new restrooms, six classrooms, a library, office space, and a mechanical closet on the second floor.
A major feature of this renovation is the addition of an ADA-compliant chairlift, crucial for meeting the educational requirements of the academy, now classified as a school. The original stairs were not compliant with education codes, requiring demolition and replacement with new, code-compliant stairs to ensure safety and accessibility for all students.
This renovation not only expands the physical space but also underscores XL Soccer's ongoing commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles among children in Central Florida. At WPC, we take pride in constructing spaces that enhance community welfare and development. By including key ADA features tailored for educational facilities, we create a safe and welcoming environment for every child.
As WPC continues Building Beyond the Blueprint®, our focus remains steadfast on not just meeting, but exceeding, the expectations of our projects and the communities they serve. The expansion of XL Soccer World is just one of many initiatives where we contribute to building better futures, one project at a time.
